Göteborg and West Sweden

Göteborg and West Sweden an exceptional combination of city life, culture and nature. Göteborg, the second largest city in Sweden, blends a distinct feeling of cosiness with the pulse of modern urban life.

Liseberg, the largest amusement park in Scandinavia – and now also the most magnificent illuminated Christmas fair – is a firm favourite among people of all ages. Göteborg is also a first-rate shopping centre and an ideal venue for meetings, trade fairs and conferences. Everything is close at hand in Göteborg: hotels, restaurants, shops, parks and a wide choice of cultural activities, including the Göteborg Opera House, with productions that have attracted international acclaim.

Map of West Sweden:

Bohuslän
Bohuslän offers a unique archipelago with its striking rocky landscape and captivating coastline – a summer delight and holiday paradise for sailors and sun-worshippers alike.

Later on in the season Bohuslän also welcomes visitors with its delicious array of seafood. Food-lovers can be seen enjoying oysters, lobster, crayfish, prawns and other delicacies of the ocean at the restaurants and along the jetties as the sun slowly sinks below the horizon. In Bohuslän the season never really ends.

Dalsland
Dalsland offers deep forests and lakes as far as the eye can see. A landscape with a unique natural richness, marked by beauty and tranquillity.

A place where canoeists, anglers and walkers can find their true paradise. Sailors can navigate the Dalsland Canal, one of the world's most beautiful waterways, and they can even sail the 250 km from Lake Vänern up to mythical Lake Stora Le. Dalsland is outdoor tourism at its very best. Far removed from cellphones, traffic jams and alarm clocks.

Västergötland
Västergötland has been a focal point throughout Swedish history. A large and impressive region, it has been a stronghold of Swedish history ever since the Middle Ages, a fact borne out by the large number of medieval churches.

Another example of the region's vibrant history is the beautiful and enchanting Läckö Castle, dating from the 17th century. The Göta Canal, an impressive waterway and a masterpiece of Swedish engineering, passes like a blue ribbon through Västergötland, linking the east and west coast. History also leads us into the textile region, a centre for shopping and design.
