Gardens of Gothenburg, 28 June – 28 September
This weekend sees the opening of the international summertime festival Gardens of Gothenburg (
www.gardensofgothenburg.com
). Taking place for three months from 28 June to 28 September, the event showcases the work of international designers at four of Scandinavia’s foremost gardens. Located in and around Gothenburg, these include the 2007 Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medal winner at Gothenburg Botanical Garden, Gunnebo House and Gardens, Liseberg Park and the Garden Society of Gothenburg (Tradgardsforeningen).
Gunnebo features a historical kitchen garden and, in contrast, three imaginative interpretations of kitchen gardens of the future - including designer Monika Goras’s exhibit incorporating a camper van! Temporary light installations will add a contemporary touch to the house’s formal garden while concerts, theatre performances and other events will contribute to a busy summer period during the Gardens of Gothenburg exhibition.
